Enjoying the Outdoors
There are a number of outdoor amenity spaces and facilities in the parish that bring people together for sporting, recreational, social and leisure and spiritual wellbeing.
External space includes St Mary’s School Brixton Playing Field and Plymouth Albion Oaks rugby pitches and Club House at Staddiscombe which serve the local and wider community with a range of health/community/social related activities.
Brixton is located in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and there is a network of public rights of ways around the parish including walks by the River Yealm. Silverbridge Way is a permissive footpath which links Brixton to Yealmpton running parallel to the A379. These paths are maintained by Devon County Council and are regularly monitored by Brixton Parish Council.
