Dementia Friendly Parishes around the Yealm
We are a local charity providing advice, support and guidance to those living with dementia and their families across the parish. We aim to help people remain active and involved in their community. We offer both individual support and a range of inclusive groups for you to come along to and enjoy. Yealmpton and Brixton Community Volunteers
We are a Befriending service which aims to reduce loneliness and isolation in Brixton, Yealmpton and the surrounding parishes. Our team visit people in their own home and gently encourage involvement in the community.
We also run a regular coffee morning on Fridays from 10:30 until 12 at the Yealmpton Community Centre.
We will soon be launching a sitting service to enable carers some free time.

Our aim as a society is to stimulate and encourage an interest in art using different mediums.
We are a friendly group of aspiring artists located in the villages around the Yealm. We attract members from South Hams and Plymouth. We hold an annual exhibition and several workshops.

Yealm Guiding
Rainbows and Brownies are popular and busy girl led units, providing adventurous activities through fun. The groups are run by fully trained volunteers.

Yealm Harbour Authority
Brixton is one of the riparian parishes of the river Yealm and as such has a representative on the Yealm harbour authority. Any permanent resident of Brixton is entitled to apply for moorings on the river. If you would like to apply contact the harbour office on 872533.

Ring and Ride
The 'Ring & Ride' bus provides a weekly shopping service to the local shops and supermarkets every Monday and the first Wednesday of the month. It is a door to door service and is available to anyone who would have difficulty using public transport. There are additional services to other towns on Fridays every 6 weeks.
